Penile implants can be an option for those who have not been able to erection with hormone therapy or medication to increase blood flow. To help you regain sexual function, your doctor will surgically implant a prosthetic device into your penis or scrotum.
Penile implants are not designed to increase sexual desire or improve sensation. They will however allow you to manually inflate your penis to achieve an erection.
What are your options
Experts at ED Solutions say that penile implants are safe and very simple to use. Our doctors can insert the following penile implants during surgery:
Three-piece inflatable pump
Two cylinders are inserted into the penis. They are joined by a liquid-filled bladder inside your abdomen and an inflatable pump in the scrotum. Special tubing connects all of these items. When you squeeze the pump, fluid travels from the container into the cylinders. This results in an erection. This causes the penis to become flaccid.
Two-piece inflatable pump
It functions the same way as the three-part inflatable. The fluid is kept in the scrotum.
Semi-rigid, malleable rods
Our surgeon inserts two flexible rods into your penis. They are semi-rigid. They can be placed in any position you choose. These inflatable pumps are more comfortable than those that come in three or four pieces.
Are you a candidate for penile implants?
Erectile dysfunction can be caused by many factors, including:
- High blood pressure
- Trauma to the pelvic region
- Heart disease
- Stress, anxiety, and depression
- Parkinson’s disease
- Cholesterol levels high
- Alcoholism
- Smoking
- Drug abuse
- Diabetes
- Obesity
You might not be a candidate if you have a pulmonary infection, urinary tract infection, poorly controlled diabetes or erectile dysfunction. Our doctors carefully examine you to ensure you are a good candidate for implant surgery.
During the procedure
This procedure can be performed with general or spinal anesthesia. After shaving the area, the surgeon will insert a catheter along with an intravenous line (IV) for medication or antibiotics. The surgeon will incision the area around your lower abdomen and the base of the penis. The surgeon will place the two-piece inflatable cylinders in your penis, penis, or both penis and scrotum if you choose the two-piece option. The procedure is performed outpatient and takes less than an hour.
After the surgery
Most men can resume regular sexual activity within four to six months after surgery. The doctor will remove your stitches in about two weeks. Scarring is almost undetectable
Implants should not affect your ability to ejaculate or have an affair. Modern cylinders can increase the length, width, and stiffness your organs. The implant may affect your natural erection reflex. After surgery, inflate your implant to achieve an erection.
A staggering 80-90% percent of men who have undergone this procedure are happy with the results.
